Why I built Edit Portal

Hey — I’m liz, or otherwise known as editedbyliz.

I founded Edit Portal to build the kind of toolkit and community I wish I’d had when I started editing. What began as a few small tools I made for myself grew into something much bigger.

I kept hitting the same walls, wrestling with converting project files between After Effects versions, trying to make the right expressions, marking all the beats manually and redoing the same tedious steps every project. So I started building small tools to take that friction away.

But tools were only half of it. I wanted a community — a place where editors of any style, any software and any skill level could learn, share and socialize with other people with the same goals and experiences. That’s what Edit Portal is.
